North by Northwest Daybill: Original or Re-Issue?

The poster on the right is often sold as the original release but when you see the two posters together it is quite obvious that the Mt Rushmore artwork is from the 1964 release. The daybill on the left features the same artwork as the original US posters for this title.

The 1964 release is easier to obtain than the original and one of those rare reissues where the artwork is better than the first release. The reissue has the iconic cropduster scene set against a backdrop of Mt Rushmore. Interestingly, the American 1964 release has Hithchock's head included amongst the other Presidents.

North by Northwest is a 1959 American thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint and James Mason. The screenplay was written by Ernest Lehman, who wanted to write "the Hitchcock picture to end all Hitchcock pictures". North by Northwest is a tale of mistaken identity, with an innocent man pursued across the United States by agents of a mysterious organization who want to stop his interference in their plans to smuggle out microfilm containing government secrets.
