HAROLD AND MAUDE Daybill Movie Poster Original or Reissue?

Harold and Maude is a much loved classic and original Australian daybills are highly desirable but quite scarce. The film was first released in Australia in 1971 around the time the censorship changed. The posters pictured below have the same “M” rating and virtually identical artwork and text apart from the variation in colour. The only difference is in the name of the printer at the bottom of the poster.

The full colour version was printed by M.A.P.S Litho and the pink version was printed by Robert Burton Printers Pty Ltd. This is the only clue as to which came first. Robert Burton Printers changed their printing details around 1975 from Robert Burton Sydney to Robert Burton Printers so it is likely that the pink version was printed in the mid 70s possibly for a re release or as a second printing. The yellow version printed by M.A.P.S is most likely the true first release.
