EXCEPTIONALLY RARE Original Australian Trade Ad approx 9" x 12" very fine condition, text on the back.

This item comes from a small collection of Australian Trade Ads from the 30s and 40s. Many came from the trade magazine "Everyone's Film Weekly" which was printed in very small quantities and only sent to theatre owners. Few have survived and they are rarely seen. They usually featured different artwork to the larger movie posters. Some were part of distributers magazines and had text on the back.

Bluebeard's Eighth Wife is a 1938 American romantic comedy film made by Paramount Pictures, directed by Ernst Lubitsch, and starring Claudette Colbert and Gary Cooper. The film is based on the French play, La huitième femme de Barbe-Bleue, by Alfred Savoir and the English translation of the play by Charlton Andrews. The screenplay was written by Charles Brackett and Billy Wilder. It is a farce about a millionaire banker and his wife. She teaches him a salutary lesson.
The film is a remake of the 1923 silent version directed by Sam Wood and starring Gloria Swanson.
